Once in a generation growth demands expansion to club facilities
WINNER: 2019 SA/NT Parks and Leisure Australia Community Facility of the Year
The South Australian mid-north town of Snowtown has benefited from a new modular sporting facility courtesy of a game-changing collaboration between Ausco Modular and the South Australian National Football League (SANFL).
The facility includes two unisex football change rooms, a netball changeroom, an AFL-standard umpires’ facility, storage, public toilets, and a canteen. From contract signing to handover, the project was completed in just 19 weeks.
Ausco Modular has partnered with major sporting codes such as the AFL and their state leagues, to deliver modular sporting facilities that meet the needs of the community from a design, cost, quality, and project delivery perspective.
The lower build cost, significant time savings and end-to-end project management make modular sporting facilities perfect for clubs where administrative and playing resources are already stretched.
SANFL CEO Jake Parkinson said a “once in a generation” growth in grassroots female participation in football since the inception of the AFLW, SANFL Statewide Super Women’s League and new regional women’s leagues has created an urgent need to develop new and existing facilities across the state.
Ausco’s Regional Manager, Simon Manser, said that with less site disruption, due to 90% of the building being completed off-site in a controlled factory environment prior to delivery and installation, the modular building method also significantly reduced the impact on local sports clubs continuing to function during the construction phase.
“The fit between the benefits that modular construction offers in terms of less time, cost, disruption and high quality, and what’s needed to meet the facilities requirements for local and regional clubs, couldn’t be stronger,” Mr Manser said.
“I’ve done traditional construction. One thing lets you down and the whole project gets delayed. Machines are booked and daily hires - they all add up. With Ausco, all that’s done for me. They build the modules off-site, bring them up, put them together and all I need is a sparky and a plumber at the end. The process is just ridiculously simple.”
